Mayer at Hyacinth House

The J&E Mayer Pottery Co. was founded in 1881 in Beaver Falls PA. At the beginning the company made ironstone, switching to semi-vitreous wares around the turn of the century, and then to vitrified china in 1912. The company name was changed to Mayer China Co. in 1923. The Syracuse China Co. bought Mayer in 1984 and continued operating the factory as a decorating facility until 1990.
