In 1931, the Poxon China Company came under new ownership who changed the name to Vernon Kilns (after the name of the Los Angeles neighbor city where the plant was located). Metlox Pottery, founded in 1927, originally produced ceramic advertising signs. The company converted to the production of dinnerware in 1932. After Vernon went out of business in the late 1950s, Metlox purchased several of their trade names and dinnerware molds and produced a Vernonware line through the 1960s. Metlox Pottery ceased operation in 1989. Because of the confusion over similar backstamps, both companies wares are listed in one category here.
