The Scammell China Co. was founded in 1923 when David Scammell bought the Maddock's Lamberton Works in Trenton, NJ. The company produced medium & heavy gauge commercial china, most of it custom decorated, as well as fine china for the home market. Sterling China Co. bought Scammell in 1954, shut down the Lamberton Works and moved much of the equipment to their plant in Wellsville, OH.
